Our Internship Program

Who are our interns?
Every year, STAIJA chooses a collection of interns to work with us on developing and implementing our projects. After selecting the interns, they are placed into one or more of our teams e.g. Dynamerge, Social Media, etc. They work closely with the executives, who lead their teams, to realize STAIJA's mission. STAIJA operates a non-hierarchical structure meaning that interns have the same say in decisions and procedures as any of the older executive members. We believe our mission is a collective one and try to encourage our interns to personalize our values.
Interns work with STAIJA for one year with the option to extend the internship by 6 months.
Eligibility
While the only real eligibility for our internship is your passion for promoting science in Nigeria, we do appreciate applications from students below the age of 19. Successful interns have a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and a propensity to learn and innovate on newly acquired information.
Application Process
Our application opens every year around May. After reviewing applications, we invite promising candidates to interview with us. Interview requests are sent a few weeks after the application deadline. Successful interviewees will be chosen to work with us for the next year.
Commitment
The STAIJA internship is intended to be a manageable commitment. Previous interns have typically dedicated less than 2 hours per week to STAIJA tasks (including meetings). We value your time and understand that our interns have other obligations, so we are flexible in accommodating schedule changes as long as they are communicated promptly.
